My Educational Philosophy

I think education (knowledge) is the key to a successful life. Therefore, I think it is important that students are inspired and motivated to learn. One might ask how do you inspire and motivate students to learn? I believe you have to start with teachers that are inspired about learning. Then, teachers have to incorporate material and activities into their classrooms that ignite curiosity and inquiry for their students. I think incorporating technology into the curriculum is an integral part of achieving motivation. Students become excited when presented the opportunity to interact with their environment. Technology provides a way to record, express, communicate, observe, present, calculate, and most importantly share. Learning is directly correlated with communicating. When students communicate their ideas, they are thinking critically about their subject. I think that critical thinking allows students to more deeply absorb the material and make it their own. Technology often provides the most efficient way of communicating, often recording what is communicated for further reflection and learning. Learning should be an interaction with knowledge where students are allowed to simulate ideas and information.
